I am often asked, “What happens at a Blue Jays and Butterflies party?” Wow…is that ever a loaded question! There are many answers to describe a Blue Jays and Butterflies wood sign painting party experience, and the first thing that comes to my mind is “Fun!”, followed in a close second by “More fun!”
There are Two Types of Parties
A Private Wood Sign Painting Party
A typical private party starts out with a potential host contacting Blue Jays and Butterflies to schedule an available date. Once a date is decided, the host invites friends, neighbors, coworkers, family members, and more to join in on the fun! If you are invited you can register and attend. Private parties can be held for any occasion at homes, offices, businesses, or at one of our partner venues.
The party host provides refreshments and the space to work on your creations. That is it! We bring everything needed to make your wood sign.
A Public Wood Sign Painting Party
Parties that are open to the public are scheduled at one of our fun partner venues usually once a month. Anyone can join in. This is a great way to see if you would like to host a private party or invite a few friends if you do not have space for a private party. You can order refreshments from the venue and we have everything set up and ready to go for you.
Blue Jays and Butterflies Wood Sign Painting Party Timeline
Whether you are hosting a party, invited to a private party, joining us at a scheduled public party, or at another creative workshop, the timeline runs about the same. The following is a typical party timeline.
You will be asked to arrive a few minutes before the party starts, in order to allow time to get refreshments, visit a bit, and settle in. Within 15 minutes or so of the party start time, we will discuss wood stain, paint colors, and contrast. Since we offer many different stains and paint colors, this helps you create a sign that matches your home décor or if you are gifting, you can choose colors your gift recipient will love.
Once paint and stain colors are chosen, you will stain the wood with our no-fume, non-toxic stain. Blue Jays and Butterflies will guide guests by offering tips and tricks for a beautifully stained canvas for your paint. While you are waiting for the stain to dry, you will have an opportunity to sip on beverages, snack, and mingle. Once the stain is dry, final touches are given to the wood to prepare for the stencil application and then let the painting begin!
With our guidance and expertise, you will apply the paint over your stencil. Once you have painted, you will remove your stencil and admire your work! If a touch up is needed, we will show you how to create a beautiful finished product.
Voila! It is time to admire all the creative Blue Jays and Butterflies signs you made and join in on a group photo opp! Parties usually last about 2-1/2 to 3 hours.
Other Frequently Asked Wood Sign Painting Party Questions
Why is the Round Circle more than the Square?
A couple of other questions I am asked are “What does it cost to paint a sign?” and “Why does the wood vary in cost for the different shapes?” The costs, ranging from $45-$65, is dependent on what size and shape of wood you choose to paint. For example a 15” Round Circle choice costs more than a 12” x 12” Square due to a larger surface area, it uses more stain and paint, and it is more labor intensive to cut. I found that guests appreciate the higher end wood we offer at such an economical price. They can’t wait to display their creation for everyone to see.
I’m Not Crafty…Can I Do This?
Not to worry! I hear this a lot from people, then they “WOW!” themselves and their friends with their final creations! The stencil you choose when you register and all materials are prepped and ready for you at your event, where we guide you every step of the way. No need to have a crafty bone in your body, just a willingness to have fun!
