Party Information

You will find most of the answers to frequently asked questions about Blue Jays and Butterflies parties on this page. If you have additional questions or want to host a party, please contact us.

How do I host a party at my home or office?

  1. Contact us to find a date and book a party with Blue Jays & Butterflies.
  2. Pay the required $50 nonrefundable deposit which will be credited towards your sign.
  3. Invite some friends (8 guest minimum, excluding host).
  4. Use a Facebook event, email or text your friends party details with a link to the Blue Jays and Butterflies website.
  5. Create a space for everyone to paint. Plan simple snacks and refreshments.

*The deposit is used to cover upfront costs associated with your party such as set up time on website, hostess emails, stencil creation, and more.

How much does it cost per guest?

Our prices range from $45- $60. A 12″ x 12″ wood project will cost $45 per person and a 12″x18″ wood project will cost $60 per person. We have varying sizes and costs in between.

Do you have parties that are open to the public?

Yes, we do! We frequent Solano County coffee shops, wineries, breweries and more! Here is how to find and join one:

• Choose a public party from our party calendar at least 5 days before the party date.  Note: Registration & payment can be no later than five (5) days prior the scheduled party in order for us to create your customized materials needed for class.
• Select your stencil design of choice. (NOTE: If you choose a custom stencil or a monogram stencil, please let us know what you would like in the “Additional Notes” box.)
• Choose your party, select your stencil design & add it to your cart.
• Check out on our secure page using any major credit card, fill in the notes if your order is custom and agree to our terms and conditions.
• You will receive a confirmation email and a receipt confirming your order.
• Add the date to your calendar.
• Invite friends to come with you!
•Please know- due to the customization of materials we do not give full or partial refunds. However, if given 72 hours cancellation notice you may move your spot to another party. This move must be done within 60 days of original party date.

My friend invited me to her party, how do I sign up?

• Find your friend’s party on our party calendar at least 5 days before the party date.  Note: Registration & payment can be no later than five (5) days prior the scheduled party date in order for us to create your customized materials.
• Select your stencil design of choice. (NOTE: If you choose a custom stencil or a monogram stencil, please let us know your established date and correct spelling of your last name in the  “Additional Notes” box.)
• Choose your party, select your stencil design & add it to your cart.
• Check out on our secure page using any major credit card, fill in the notes if your order is custom and agree to our terms and conditions.
• You will receive a confirmation email and a receipt confirming your purchase.
• Add the date to your calendar.
• Invite friends to come with you!

Do I get a discount if I host a party?

Yes! We have a thank you discount if you host a party!

• Host 8-9 friends – receive 25% off your sign
• Host 10-11 friends – receive 50% off your sign
• Host 12 or more friends – receive a free sign
• If a participating friend (or two…or three…) books a party at the party you are hosting and you attend and participate in their party you will receive 50% off your sign!

Are there incentives for guests if they sign up for a party?

Yes, but they must sign up for a party before they leave the party they are attending.

How many guests do I have to invite?

An eight (8) guest minimum is required for parties. If you do not have eight guests, we can still create a party, however the cost per project increases. Contact us for more information on party pricing.

Does the hostess need to let guests know what designs are available?

Yes. We ask that you share the link to our Blue Jays & Butterflies site. Here guests can click on Parties, locate your party, select one of many project designs currently available, then checkout.

Do you have parties that the public can attend?

Yes we do. Here is how to find one and sign up:

• Select your stencil design of choice. (NOTE: If you choose a custom stencil or a monogram stencil, please let us know the correct spelling of your last name and established date in the “Additional Notes” box.)
• Choose your party, select your stencil design & add it to your cart.
• Check out on our secure page using any major credit card, fill in the notes if your order is custom and agree to our terms and conditions.

What can I expect at a Blue Jays and Butterflies party?

• You will decide on a color scheme then stain  your base coat.
• While the base coat is drying, you will take a 15-minute break for refreshments and to socialize.
• Then you will apply your stencil, measure spacing and paint.
• You will remove your stencil, admire your wooden sign and have some fun taking group photos!

Where is Blue Jays and Butterflies?

Blue Jays and Butterflies is a mobile DIY sign painting and home decor experience! We come to you! Our home base is in Solano County, in Northern California. We charge a travel fee if your party is located more than 30 miles outside of Vacaville. The fee will be prearranged with you as it is based on mileage, location and/or time.

What does Blue Jays and Butterflies do at a party?

The role of Blue Jays and Butterflies at parties is to create a fun and memorable experience for our hosts and their guests.

• We provide “Hands-On” instructions.
• We have all materials needed ready for you to create your wood sign
• We guide you step-by-step to create the design you selected.

How much room do I need to provide for my guests?

It is very important that there is 3 feet of workspace per guest. For example, we recommend you set up a six foot table for every four guests. We ask that these tables are ready to go when we arrive to set up.

How much time should I set aside for a party?

Blue Jays and Butterflies will arrive 30-45 minutes prior to the booked start time to set up. Parties are booked at 2-1/2 to 3-hour increments.

How much time do the hostess and guests have to select their design?

Hostess and guests will be prompted to select their design at registration before they check out on the website.

IMPORTANT: All registration and payment MUST be received by 6:00 pm, five (5) days before the scheduled party date in order to give Blue Jays and Butterflies time to prepare materials for a fun party experience.

What happens if someone doesn't show up?

Due to the personalization and the preparation time of materials, Blue Jays and Butterflies has a firm No Refund Policy. However, if we are given 72 hours notice, the non-participating guest can move their reservation to another party. Guests must choose another party within 60 days from the date of the party the guest was to attend. No shows will not be eligible for a credit.

Is there anything else the Hostess should know?

First, let us thank you for your interest in a Blue Jays & Butterflies DIY Party. As a hostess, you invite guests, provide the workspace and offer refreshments. Blue Jays & Butterflies will handle the rest by providing all table coverings,  project supplies and instructions.
